As Fall turns to Winter, we at Alandale wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday season.

In this month's issue, we have highlighted a few of items we felt were important to your business.

As Workers Compensation continues to be a hot button item on the lips on many California businesses, Commissioner Garamendi recommends companies reduce rates another 15.3% effective January 1, 2006. This will continue to be a highly debated by the insurance industry, trial lawyers and the medical profession as the year comes to a close.

With that said, the medical profession is not happy with the way they are being treated in the system since the changes implemented by SB899. Doctors are citing, among other things, reduced ability to provide the correct patient care and various levels of red tape. While the Workers Compensation market has temporarily righted its' ship in California, expect 2006 to provide much debate as to the future of our reforms.

With the office holiday party season upon us, it is not a bad time to review your companies code of conduct at such events. Often times, alcohol and companies sponsored events can end up putting your business at risk. Employment Practices Liability Insurance can be a way to protect your company in the event something goes wrong. This is an important piece to your insurance program.

Finally, our Safety Spotlight highlights the importance of Emergency Preparedness Planning. We offer 10 tips to get you started in the right direction.

Happy Holidays,

Paul Traughber
