business's emergency preparedness plan.
On the first day of a large-scale
crisis, three numbers serve as important
markers for communalization: 60, 3 and 1.
Within 60 minutes of being notified of an
incident, the business should distribute
an initial communication that indicates what
is known about the situation and what response
steps are underway.
It is important to release this to
customers and employees.
Within
3 hours,
a crisis communication organization should be
in place - even if it is bare-bones and
awaiting the arrival of additional resources.
By
the end of day 1,
you need to have a short-term communications
plan in place - one that specifies key
messages, main facts, identifies
spokespersons, and indicates the next day's
needs.
