The
identity-theft threat is growing – right in
your backyard. California ranks second in the
country for the highest risk of identity
theft, according to national watchdog group ID
Analytics. But Alandale now can offer
homeowners customers comprehensive identity
recovery coverage.
Some possible
benefits of identity recovery may include:
- A case
manager
- The option
to assign limited power of attorney to
your case manager, who can do all the
legwork for you
- Coverage
of up to $25,000 in expenses incurred to
restore identity, including lost wages as
a result of time away from work, and
certain legal fees caused by identity
theft
Suggested
steps to take if you are a
victim of identity theft:
1.
Immediately call your credit card companies.
Tell them the
situation and ask where you can send
them a copy of the police report.
2.
Call the police and report the incident.
(When you get
the police report you’ll want to make
several copies.) Then you need to complete
a Federal Trade
Commission (FTC) ID Theft Affidavit
and an FTC report.
3.
Call your bank. They can assist with check
processing and
place an alert on your Driver’s License
and Social Security Number.
4.
Call the fraud units of the credit reporting
agencies: Experian, Transunion and
Equifax.
